Navigating Clues

To navigate through the puzzle:

• Arrow Keys: Toggle to the corresponding cell and clue
• Tab/Enter: Move to next clue
• Spacebar: Depending on the crossword settings (more below), this will move to the next clue or toggle between down/across.

You can also click a clue or cell to jump directly to a location.

Entering Clues

Use either the standard keyboard or the virtual keyboard (see more below) to input clues. Each cell accepts only one alphabetic character. In Live Arena mode, you cannot check if a clue is correct until the puzzle is completed.

To delete a previous cell, press backspace to remove it, manually select a cell and click backspace, or simply select a cell and overwrite it with a new clue.

Virtual Keyboard

On mobile screens, the virtual keyboard is automatically enabled for more convenient clue solving on smaller screens or while using mobile devices. The virtual keyboard can also be toggled on or off on any device through the settings menu.

Timer

The timer tracks your time for the current round and cannot be reset.

Settings

You can adjust settings for how to interact with the grid. Note that all these settings default to "ON" by default.

• Letter Input: This option, when enabled, allows you to skip over already filled-in letters as you enter answers for clues, streamlining the process.

• Clue Completion: When this setting is turned on, the puzzle will automatically move you to the next clue after completing one. If off, you will remain on the current clue until you manually select a new one.

• Spacebar: With this option enabled, the spacebar will toggle between across and down clues. When disabled, the spacebar will simply move you to the next clue.

Flag Content

Report any issues directly to the moderators. This includes problematic clues, unusual clue phrasing, inappropriate player behavior, or suspected cheating. Your feedback helps keep the community enjoyable and fair for everyone.

Reset Grid

Clears the entire grid and resets the cursor to the beginning of the puzzle. Use this option if you need a fresh start - however, this does not reset the timer.

Reveal

• Reveal Puzzle: Reveal the puzzle. In Live Arena, this will forfeit the round.
• Reveal Square: Reveal the current square.
• Check Puzzle: Check the puzzle. Incorrect squares will be highlighted red.
• Check Square: Check the current square. If incorrect, the square will be highlighted red.

Live Arena Features

The below features are only available in Live Arena.

Live Arena Chat

When in a Live Arena, you can chat with other players during games using the Arena Chat feature. Share strategies, discuss clues, or just enjoy some friendly banter while racing to solve the puzzle.

• Stay Respectful: Keep conversations courteous and avoid offensive language or behavior.
• Keep it Relevant: Focus on puzzle-related topics or casual, game-friendly interactions.
• Report Issues: If you encounter inappropriate behavior, use the flagging system to notify moderators.

Puzzle Ghosts

Puzzle "ghosts" allow you to monitor the progress and status of other players during a game. These real-time indicators show how far other players have progressed and can give you a competitive edge.

Lobby Type

In an A.I. lobby, puzzles are generated by A.I. In a Community Puzzle lobby, the puzzles come from the Community Puzzles published on our site by players. In order to change preferences, you will have to change lobbies. Your preferences are saved to your local device.

Private Lobbies

Create your own private lobby and share the link with others. You can also select the lobby type and choose whether you want others to join.
